Friday – drove down to Bristol, drank a lot, met lots of people – some old, some new – and promised to buy their comics, saw my friends band, made a lot of noise, drank some more.
Saturday – went to the con thing, wandered around, bought the promised comics and dropped a couple of very heavy boxes off at Ade’s table. Surprised everybody by declaring I was sober, then surprised myself by driving back to Nor for a wedding reception that evening in Coventry. Was a bit blitzed though, drank two shandys and drove back to Nor so I could kip in my own bed. Because…
Sunday – drove back to Bristol, met lots of mates for one last hurrah. Was chatting to one of them in Wetherspoons, she told me that the chilli was off and the pub erupted into a riot. Chairs and tables everywhere – Bristol people are so touchy. Went to bed early – tired – had a lot to do on …
Monday – drove down to Portsmouth with a drum kit in the back of the car. Met up with gal at the train station and mooched on down to the historic docks where best friend was getting married that evening on a very old boat. Made a slight heels faux-pas, think it’s okay. Wedding was ace – much quaffing of alcohol – there’s a surprise.
Tuesday – Fried breakfast and posho outlet shopping. Couldn’t work out best way to get gal home so drove her back to Nor instead. Wound down. Didn’t realise that on …
Wednesday – I had builders coming round to fit new windows. Turned up before 8am. Unnecessary early start that put paid to our establishment of Wednesday rules. Later met up with friends in Brixton for Pixies gig. Told interviewer from Radio 6 that it was awesome – they didn’t use this on the news.
Thursday – slept.
Friday – Brixton again. Pixies again. Even better this time around.
Saturday – Trains fucked – three hour bus ride to London where, ha ha, Pixies again. Monumentally good. Seriously, I’ve seen them three days in four and if they were playing for the rest of the month they wouldn’t outstay their welcome.
Sunday – Mooched around London again. Went to the Edward Hopper exhibition at the Tate Modern which I really enjoyed though it was missing some of my favourites. Then again – they’re probably my favourites because they’re oh so obvious.
Monday – Started new job. Will keep me away from the internet for a while as I think my time would be better spent reading up on TSM methodology and studying redbooks. Remembered that one of the bonuses of moving to normal hours is that I can go to the gym again – so I went to the pool and swam 40 lengths. I know it’s not the gym – baby steps, baby steps.
